The Travis Perkins Group is keenly involved in supporting the local communities in which it operates, and donated more than £880,000 to worthwhile causes in 2007. The group greatly appreciates the efforts and kind donations made by its employees, customers and suppliers, and hopes to equal or better its donation to charities this year.
Four main charities benefit from the company's fundraising activities – NCH The Children's Charity, Mencap, ENABLE Scotland and Leukaemia Research. A charity committee helps to steer a variety of fundraising activities at branches and stores nationwide throughout the year. Past events have included family fun days, carnival floats, dress up/dress down days, "3 Peaks" and "4 Peaks" Challenges, Dragon Boat racing, Car Washes and much more.
The Group also operates a "Give As You Earn" scheme, enabling its employees to donate to charity directly from their salary.
NCH is one of the UK's leading children's charities, helping children achieve their full potential. Through their services they support some of the UK's most vulnerable and excluded children and young people.
Mencap is the UK's leading learning disability charity working with people with a learning disability and their families and carers. They fight for equal rights, campaign for greater opportunities and challenge attitudes and prejudice.
ENABLE Scotland is a dynamic charitable organisation run by its members and a partner to Mencap in Scotland. It campaigns for a better life for children and adults with learning disabilities and supports them and their families to participate, work and live in their local communities.
Leukaemia Research is the only charity in the UK dedicated exclusively to researching blood cancers and disorders including leukaemia, Hodgkin’s and other lymphomas, and myeloma.
24,500 children and adults are diagnosed every year in the UK. They are committed to giving every one of them the best chance of survival.
